When you own the current generation of Toyota Tacoma 4x4 pickup, there's a lot of options out there for customizing your Tacoma just how you want it. When it comes to lift-kits for the 2020-2021 Tacoma, however, that's where it gets complicated. Today's Toyota Safety is all about carefully-placed sensors and suspension geometry, and when you throw a lift-kit on your Toyota, that careful engineering can go right out the window, potentially compromising your safety.

Good news for those who want to put some bigger tires on their 2020-21 Tacoma V6 4x4 however: Toyota TRD recently released their first lift kit for Tacoma that has been fully validated as compatible with Toyota Safety Sense! A dealer-installed option, the lift-kit can be installed at the time of purchase or long after you've left the lot, and includes all the go-fast goodies to make your Toyota even more off-road capable!

Developed in-house by Toyota Racing Development, the heart of the new kit are newly-designed shocks created in an exclusive cooperation between TRD and premium off-road provider Bilstein. The kit fits only V6 4x4 models, and provides a 2-inch front lift and 1-inch lift in the rear. In front, the shocks achieve lift by adjusting the position of the coil spring on the shock tube. In the rear, the kit includes cast-iron spaces.

In addition to looking great thanks to TRD logos and red TRD dust boots, the shocks help take your Tacoma to the next level performance wise, with a larger shock body containing more oil for improved heat dissipation and damping in extreme conditions. The piston rod is also 4 millimeters larger than stock diameter, for more strength and flex-resistance. With the kit installed, the Tacoma's under-frame ground clearance is increased by 1.7 inches, while approach angle, breakover angle and departure angle are all also improved.

As if that wasn't enough, the kit also comes with a TRD Pro-style front grille with heritage-inspired TOYOTA lettering, which contained the Toyota Safety Sense millimeter-wave sensor and camera support bracket. Installing these recalibrates TSS to work with the slightly higher location of the sensors. Also included are two matching black bezels that match the grille and fill the deleted fog lamp pockets.

Because of the complexity of the sensors, the The Tacoma TRD Lift Kit is available only as a dealer-installed option. Price of the kit is $1,350, not including 4-5 hours of labor to install it. It fits all 2020-21 V6-powered Tacoma 4×4 models, with the exception of Double Cab Long Bed Tacomas and TRD Pro. Because it's a genuine Toyota product, the lift kit includes a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty on parts if it is installed at the time of sale, or a 1-year, 12,000-mile warranty on parts if it is installed after you've already purchased your Tacoma.

So, are you ready to get your 2020-2021 Toyota Tacoma sitting high and pretty? Then give our parts department a call today and let's get started building the lifted Tacoma of your dreams, at Landers Toyota of NWA!
