Since 2001, when the groundbreaking Toyota Prius Hybrid was introduced in America, Toyota has gone after Hybrid and alternative-fuel technologies in a big way, pushing the industry toward cleaner and more sustainable powertrain options while helping create a market that will help build a better future for us all.

With 11 hybrids offered across their 2021 vehicle lineup, and 3.7 million Toyota hybrids sold in America so far,  it's clear that Toyota is fully committed to alternative propulsion technologies. Recently, Autotrader.com took note of this brand-wide commitment, spotlighting both Toyota's 2021 Hybrid models and their innovative 2021 Mirai Hydrogen Fuel-Cell sedan. It's the latest in a long string of critical and automotive press applause for Toyota's alternative-fuel vehicles.

Autotrader.com editors discussed the totally-redesigned 2021 Toyota Mirai as a leader in the small-but-growing class of hydrogen fuel-cell-powered vehicles. When burned as fuel, hydrogen produces only water. AutoTrader specifically singled out the 2021 Mirai for its bold new looks, which took the model from a hatchback to a premium-look sedan, for what AutoTrader said was "a bit more of a traditional look that you wouldn’t guess is an alternative fuel vehicle at first glance."

Toyota Hybrids, meanwhile, got their own entry on AutoTrader's Best New Automotive Technologies of 2021, with editors calling the fact that the 2021 Toyota Sienna minivan and 2021 Toyota Venza crossover SUV only come in hybrid models "especially noteworthy." AutoTrader also pointed to the all-new 2021 RAV4 plug-in hybrid model as important and a sign that Toyota's ongoing efforts to make hybrid technology reliable enough to be seamless for most drivers continues apace. As they put it: "Toyota has done for hybrids what Henry Ford did for the automobile: they brought it to the masses."
