What Does the Toyota TRD Badge Mean?

TRD stands for Toyota Racing Development. TRD is the in-house tuning shop of all Toyota, Lexus, and formerly Scion cars. TRD improves street cars for more performance and supports Toyota’s racing interests around the world. The TRD division also takes care of off-road treatments to SUVs and trucks. TRD produces various tuning products and accessories including performance suspension components, superchargers and wheels.

The Camry and Avalon have a TRD model for 2020. The TRD package includes a uniquely styles exterior with sporty accents and a blackout package. There are also 19-inch black-painted TRD wheels.  Behind the wheels, you’ll find larger brakes with red calipers. The interior is accented in red and there is a TRD cat-back exhaust so you can hear the V6 growl. 

 

The 2020 86 and Supra are Toyota’s sportiest models and were developed with TRD in their DNA. The 86 has an available TRD handling package. The Supra offers extra carbon fiber bits and TRD performance accessories on the way to amplify the thrill of driving. 

 

The RAV4 includes a TRD Off-Road trim for 2020. The TRD Off-Road RAV4 features a TRD-tuned independent MacPherson strut front suspension with stabilizer bar, 18-inch black TRD wheels, TRD stitching in the interior and more

The 4Runner includes a TRD Off-Road model but also has a TRD Pro model, more on the Pro to come. 

 

The Sequoia includes a TRD Sport trim which includes a TRD sport-tuned suspension with Bilstein shocks, 20-inch black TRD wheels, gloss black accents and TRD accented interior. The 2020 Sequoia also features a TRD Pro model. 

 

The Tacoma offers a TRD Sport, Off-Road, and Pro model. 

 

The Tundra offers a TRD Pro model. 

 

The TRD Pro series are the most off-road ready vehicles Toyota produces. The TRD Pro trim is offered on the Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner and Sequoia. All TRD Pro models feature four-wheel drive, upgraded shocks and off-road suspension, heritage-inspired “Toyota” front grille, black alloy wheels and TRD accenting throughout the interior. Other accessories for the TRD models include unique cat-back exhausts, performance air intakes, skid plates and LED lights.
